Who is Jetpack Kitten?
Jetpack Kitten is the stage persona for Philip Aberneithy.
Jetpack Kitten plays original funk-rock with an incredible live band.
Live performance - they draw comparisons to Talking Heads, Meatloaf, Joan Armatrading & Bowie.
Every song has a meaning. Jetpack Kitten writes about 1. equality - experienced through being mixed race and having vitiligo 2. bias and 3. the unconditional support for others.
Alive, Released Jan 2025
Alive is a song written to say - no matter what I look like, you have no right to judge me.
The lyrics of Alive are based on Phil's personal experiences of living with vitiligo - a long-term autoimmune condition in which a person develops white patches on their skin. Alive is all about owning who you are.
Running, Released Dec 2024
Running is a song about being there for another being (human or animal).
When another being is going through a time of pain, you can help them as much as you can, but sometimes they won't want that help at that specific time, they may want help when the pain stops - 'When the water subsides, and you find yourself on dry land, you'll see me running to hold your hand'.

Alive, Dublin Castle, Spring 2024.
Jetpack Kitten perform Alive at the iconic Dublin Castle. Alive is a song written to say - no matter what I look like, you have no right to judge me.
Thrilled With It, Dublin Castle, Spring 2024
Thrilled With It is a lighter pop-rock track. It talks about where humans are headed, but then takes us back down to Earth, reminding us that the most important thing is the bonds we share with other humans and creatures here on Earth.
Grace Millett joins Jetpack Kitten on main vocals. Together they sound incredible. You’ll want to listen to this one over and over.
Yesterday, The Belgian Brasserie, Spring 2024
Jetpack Kitten performed at The Belgian Brasserie! Thanks to Ben & Tixi for making the night amazing. At one point, I realized I didn’t need a microphone - Jetpack Kitten’s voice is so loud, and the venue is quite intimate.
"The most unique band that I’ve seen live in 4-5 years."
Audience member at The Hope, Richmond.
In the studio
Yes I Know, Recording short, April 2024
We’re in the studio, rocking to the click. Jetpack Kitten can’t get enough of this groove - feels like it’s made for us.
Alive, Recording short, April 2024
We’re in the studio, recording Alive to the click. Had to share this - otherwise, who would believe we can rock the intro to Alive with just three instruments? This one's for all the Jetpack Kitten skeptics out there.
Songwriting
Almost every day Jetpack Kitten is songwriting - and they’ve been doing this for the past two years.
They write small ditties.
They then play the small ditties to interested listeners at open mics to see what works.
The ditties are then refined into songs.
Words matter.
Every song Jetpack Kitten writes has a meaning.
They never write a song without meaning, because without meaning, there’s no real message. And without that, Jetpack Kitten wouldn’t be able to sing it with any kind of passion.
